Fighting for the Faith

Pastor Gary Combs concludes our Entrusted series by teaching us about the battle that has been entrusted to us. We have a battle within ourselves, in our marriages and families, and for the gospel itself. How do we fight for the faith?

The Teaching of True Contentment

Pastor Gary Combs continues the sermon series “ENTRUSTED: An Exposition of 1 Timothy” with this message from chapter 6. In this portion of the apostle Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he entrusted him with the teaching of true contentment in Christ and warned him against those who would teach a different doctrine. We are entrusted with this same teaching of true contentment that is found in Christ alone and not in the pursuit of money and possessions.

A Household of Mutual Honor

Pastor Gary Combs continues the sermon series “ENTRUSTED: An Exposition of 1 Timothy” with this message from 1 Timothy 5. In the apostle Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he entrusted him with instructions on how the people of God were to establish a household marked by mutually honoring one another. We are entrusted with these same instructions for establishing God’s household, His church, as a people who mutually honor one another.

The Ministry of God’s Word

Pastor Gary Combs continues the sermon series “ENTRUSTED: An Exposition of 1 Timothy” with this message from 1 Timothy 4. The apostle Paul entrusted Timothy with instructions on how to carry out the ministry of God’s Word in the church at Ephesus. We can recognize that we are entrusted with these same instructions for the ministry of God’s Word.

Behaving as God’s Household

As we continue through the book of 1 Timothy, Pastor Gary helps us understand the qualifications of those who lead the church. Paul gave instructions to those who oversee, serve and support the church.

Worship in God’s Household

Pastor Gary Combs continues the sermon series “Entrusted: An Exposition of 1 Timothy” with this message from chapter 2. In the apostle Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he entrusted him with clear instructions on how to lead worship services in the church at Ephesus. We can recognize that as God’s family, His household, we are entrusted with these same instructions for worship. The text gives five instructions to those entrusted with how to worship in God’s household. These instructions address how we should pray, share the gospel, and men’s and women’s roles in worship.

The Message of Grace

As we continue through the book of 1 Timothy, Pastor Gary Combs helps us understand the message of grace that Paul was entrusting to Timothy – that Christ came to save sinners. When we are entrusted with that same gospel, we can continue to be thankful for God’s grace to us, we can allow ourselves to be trophies of grace put on display to show God’s glory, and we can contend for the gospel by staying true to the teaching from the Bible.

Guarding the Gospel

Pastor Gary Combs begins a new 8-week sermon series entitled: “Entrusted: An Exposition of 1 Timothy.” In this first message he addresses the first 11 verses where the apostle Paul charges Timothy to guard the gospel from false teaching as it was entrusted to him.

“E” is for Experience

Pastor Gary Combs concluded the “SHAPEd for Significance” series with this message from 2 Corinthians about how God wants to use our experiences, both good and bad to comfort others and to bring glory to Him.

“P” is for Personality

Pastor Gary Combs continues the “Shaped for Significance” series with this message from Mark 12:28-32 about Personality. This message focuses on the four aspects of humanity, our heart, soul, mind and strength, that we are to fully use in our love of God and also of others. These four aspects might be viewed through the lens of human personality. The study of personality is helpful in understanding our unique differences and how we need each other. It helps us to show grace to one another. It also refines our search for meaning as we align our work with our SHAPE.
